[9:45:22 pm]commonlyclever:hi there.
[9:46:12 pm]commonlyclever:up for chatting a bit with an (overzealous) admirer?
[9:46:13 pm]sf_bike_girl:hello
[9:46:22 pm]sf_bike_girl:that's sweet
[9:46:49 pm]commonlyclever:yah, I'm sorry about the email earlier, my bad side can be unrestrained in its curiosity sometimes =/
[9:47:46 pm]sf_bike_girl:well thanks, it was more of a helpfull hint. We don't want you running all over OKC upsetting the ladies
[9:49:24 pm]commonlyclever:is that "We" in the royal sense? it's true I've had that effect, but almost always unintentionally, I swear
[9:50:10 pm]sf_bike_girl:I really was not that upset but I think some could have been really put off
[9:52:09 pm]commonlyclever:I'm glad you weren't. So, what made you decide to go back to school, if you don't mind my asking?
[9:52:49 pm]sf_bike_girl:Grey cube, grey building unimportant work could not see myself doing that till I retire or win the lotto
[9:53:57 pm]commonlyclever:yah, I hear ya. Why psychology though?
[9:54:22 pm]sf_bike_girl:Love it, the human is such an interesting subject
[9:55:49 pm]commonlyclever:Complex for sure. Are you looking to segwey into another field (as many do with that), or probably practice yourself?
[9:57:24 pm]commonlyclever:I say that because both my brother and sister-in-laws have psyc undergrads but entered other fields after..
[9:57:42 pm]sf_bike_girl:I really would like to teach at a university and do research
[9:59:06 pm]commonlyclever:Ph.d then?
[9:59:14 pm]sf_bike_girl:looks that way...
[10:00:25 pm]commonlyclever:oh. so are you in a postgrad program now, or in undergrad?
[10:01:36 pm]sf_bike_girl:Gosh I wish, long story but finishing my BA, long ago I left school for the dot.com boom, never went back kind of thing.
[10:03:50 pm]commonlyclever:hmm, I can perhaps understand. I just got back into school after chasing a dream myself. In some ways it's actually good not to have finished, if you're committed long-term though. You can't get back into some undergrad programs once you have a first degree some places
[10:04:53 pm]sf_bike_girl:Oh yes, a few of my friends have the same issue
[10:07:31 pm]commonlyclever:really? also dot-commers?
[10:08:22 pm]sf_bike_girl:some yes most of them just want to do a change and are stuck
[10:09:52 pm]commonlyclever:yah, tough market.
[10:10:26 pm]sf_bike_girl:very
[10:12:41 pm]commonlyclever:Actually that raises another question-- what jobs are out there for coders (I'm assuming most of the dot-com people) besides software and maybe teaching? Not like it translates into much else, no?
[10:13:37 pm]sf_bike_girl:I am not sure depends what platform you are coding on. I myself am not a coder
[10:16:37 pm]commonlyclever:ah. well coder or not, the ones with grades can at least do grad school. I was a good student but stayed in despite being unmotivated and missed the cutoff.
[10:17:36 pm]commonlyclever:not that I mean to complain, I have open doors, just takes more time I guess
[10:17:47 pm]sf_bike_girl:I hear you
[10:18:33 pm]commonlyclever:So what'd you do in those "grey buildings"... anything interesting?
[10:18:56 pm]sf_bike_girl:HR and Project Management
[10:20:06 pm]commonlyclever:well that's transferrable at least.
[10:22:05 pm]commonlyclever:So...social life: have you been married before? have kids?
[10:23:17 pm]sf_bike_girl:was married, no kids 3 years ago
[10:24:14 pm]commonlyclever:hm. never married myself.
[10:25:42 pm]commonlyclever:still there?
[10:25:48 pm]sf_bike_girl:yep.
[10:26:01 pm]commonlyclever:want to voice-chat?
[10:26:17 pm]commonlyclever:(can i call you, I mean...)
[10:26:25 pm]sf_bike_girl:kind of multi tasking - sorry. I really should crack the books
[10:26:32 pm]commonlyclever:yah ok
[10:26:43 pm]commonlyclever:same =/
[10:26:54 pm]sf_bike_girl:ok have a nice night
