A little (mostly) pro-Comcast story (because there are probably so few out there...):
Soo I was expecting the worst: Though promised a "year" of free HBO, extended cable, and DVR I found out that my bill had gone up after only the 2nd month using it. I'm currently six months into the plan, and having been on the auto-payment plan, had already overpaid about ninety bucks (yah, I'm that bad at tracking my budget). When I called to switch my bill I figured I'd get some bullshit about not being able to change things, yadda yadda, but actually, honesty turned out to work for once.
First of all, their explanation seemed to check out. The technicians had apparently installed a DVR box better than the one for the free plan (HD-capable, which I didn't use anyways), and it was caught by audits in the second month. Looking back at the lines on my bill seems to support this.
What astounded me was their offer: since the technician acknowledged it was their mistake, they were able to reverse the difference for the entire month and credit me for the next three months (I asked for six, but I was happy to take three after expecting zilch). In any case, my semester will be up then and who knows where I'll be.
Just wanted to briefly plug good customer service. Total time spent: about an hour (multitasking).
